#Quake ii steroids pack Patch#
There are literally hundreds if not thousands of fixes to Daikatana in patch 1.3 to make it work like it shoud. in the community patch 1.3 pre-beta such things have been fixed. Daikatana was released in a broken state in 2000 and some of the patches released for Daikatana by the developer Ion Storm themselves broke some more of the things in the game while fixing some other issues.įor example the wonky sidekick AI wasn't great to begin with but patch 1.1 and 1.2 broke it completely in some ways in some maps (for example AI sidekicks cannot get out of fountains by themselves in episode 2 or at least it's significantly more difficult to get them out of those places). Originally posted by Pr.Jitterskull - best bug fixer:Why you need patches to begin with? Isn't game stable as it is without any updates\fixes? No it isn't. You do have an option to drop the 32-bit textures with: And you can tell it's loaded by launching the game from cmd.exe and looking at the output where you can see pak5.pak being loaded. The 32-bit textures are automatically active when you have the pak file in your data directory and its loaded. And many other things which go into this. And gl_texturemode also applies filtering which hides some of the differences. Also your screenshot comparison of rockwall is useless because the texture has been stretched so much and the resolution is the same for both textures (128x128 or 256x256) and your monitor resolution is likely far larger than that. Most people won't be able to teel the difference. There won't be large noticeable differences looking at the images but JPEG as a lossy compressed format can and often will look much worse in closer inspection. The differences are similar to (but not the same) when you have a high quality image in Photoshop's format and then export two versions of it one being PNG and the other one JPEG. This is not some "HQ Texture Pak" like the ones for Doom and Quake and the purpose is different as well. And I've already explained to you that the differences are marginal and largely technical because the source images are the same. No, it doesn't mean "better looking" (when understood as more detailed) walls in and of itself. Are wall textures not affected by the PAK or what? Should I activate them by some additional console command? Originally posted by Patrol1985:The textures on the walls are literally the same regardless whether I have the file or not.
